Oinoe, the city of wine, synthesizes and delineates a human and business venture whose headway dates back to the recent 2013. It is the story of the happy joining of two families, the Cavallis and the Ceriolis: the first one boasting fifty years expertise in wine industry, and the second one embodied by Alex, a young entrepreneur deeply keen on pouring into the microcosm of wine all the expertise he has gained in several fields of agriculture together with his dynamic and innovative vision. The current synergy between these two souls naturally enriches such a conspicuous existing patrimony, and allows the Oinoe to face the stiff Food market, characterizing Italy as an absolute excellence. Oinoe srl company is located on Parma Hills, a well-known area all over the world for the production of two of the Italian gastronomy’s symbols, Parma Ham and Parmiggiano Reggiano (parmesan cheese). Our company overlooks Enza Valley, and our Guyout trained wineyards (40 Acres) include varieties of Malvasia, Muscat, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Merlot, Cabernet and Lambrusco. Vines are arranged round the hill in harmony with the territory and they are grown according to Integrated Agricultural Principles, which allows us to produce exquisite and particularly cherished wines. Carefully selected bottles, labels and packaging too, convey such preciousness.

cosmic tree _ the grapevine
..AN Archaic greek myth recounts that when the grapevine (Vitis Vinifera, in Linneo’s classification) did not yet have a name, it used to climb on trees forming forest from whence gushed the red juice of its fruits. One day, a dragon was sinuously wrapped on one of these grapevines, greedily sucking on its bunches. Upon seeing Dyonysus approach, he fled, hiding in a cave. At the sight of the red bunches, the child bacchus remembered “the oracles of the fateful Rea”, his wet nurse, and he decided to extract wine from those fruits. The presence of Rea in the background of this myth alludes to the great goddess of crete who ruled over plants and animals, accompanied or adorned with various attributes; a lion, a bull, some snakes:
the source, the core of life itself as a perennial flow, in its relentless metamorphosis through the death of each creature.
In the second millennium, in crete, from the cult of the great mother there emerged the god of wine, of the bull and of women, who were no strangers to the snakes that bacchus devotees held in their hands, like other figures of female divinity. A similar religion may also have existed in asia minor, where the grapevine was originally dubbed “the mother of wine.” Not surprisingly, the argonauts chose a gigantic grapevine as most suitable to carve a statue of Rea, she who had reassembled Dionysus after being dismembered. The sumerians had a goddess known as goddess vine or mother vine, and it was no accident, since the grapevine was also known as “the grass of life” and the sumerian sign for life was originally a vine leaf.
This belief is reflected in the saga of gilgamesh, where the hero enters the garden of the sun and sees trees made of precious stones, all except for one, the grapevine, near which he discovers siduri, also known as sabitu, “the woman of wine” or “she who mixes the wine”.
Gilgamesh asks her for the way to conquer immortality. “the vine”, comments mircea eliade, “was the expression of immortality, precisely like wine in the archaic traditions is a symbol of youth and eternal life.” … The first epicentre of the cult of dionysus in greece was a village in the mountains of attica, ikarion, whose name conjures the island of ikaria, in the sea overlooking caria, a region of asia minor, one of the birthplaces of the god.
Its capital was oinóe, “the city of wine”.
